Jim The Spin Explain!

You been wondering why do I have a post today, since today is a just a Friday, August28, 2009. For you, it’s just an ordinary day but for me it has a special meaning in my life because today seven years ago, the day I enter the world of broadcasting, which is being a disc jockey.

At first it’s hard to be a disc jockey, you know some people might say “you’re not good at your diction & you have a not so good choice of songs to be played on-air” that is the challenge if you are a disc jockey & Thank God, I never encounter such comments.

One of the things that you should consider if you want to be a disc jockey is a radio name, being in an FM radio station, you are free to use codenames unlike in an AM radio station, you should use your real name for credibility, for FM station, it’s another way around.

Why you use “Jim” as you radio name? That is the most frequently ask question when I meet a listeners, when they drop by at the station. Well, for the benefit of the readers of this blog, I use “Jim” because I want a radio name that is personal to me, so that I can easily remember, that simple hehehe

“Jim” derived from my real name “Jaime” & “Jimmy” as my nickname, so to sound cool & gwapo c”,) I use “Jim” & it also served as my other nickname.

Another questions pop-up, why you connect “The Spin” on “Jim”. Basically, “The Spin” is the title of my radio program. At first, I never use “Jim The Spin” as a radio name, it was pure coincidence that I realized that I have a good combination of my radio name. During one of our brainstorming sessions in our station, my co-dj write my name “Jim” in a white board alongside with my radio program title “The Spin” then the people in the session exclaimed “You have a good radio name” & that is “Jim The Spin” born.

"A Cellphone & A Bible"

IBINIGAY NA SA KANYA (Original Poem)

For today’s entry, I will post the poem that I wrote several years ago.

IBINIGAY NA SA KANYA

Andami niyang pangarap
Sa dami niyang gustong makamit
Hindi niya alam kung paano niya makakamit ang pangarap niya
Sa tuwing iniisip niya iyon
Siya’y napapabuntong hininga at nalulungkot.

Siya’y nagdarasal ng taimtim
Upang siya’y tulungang makamit ang kanyang pangarap

Pagkatapos niyang magdasal
Naglalakad siya sa pamilihang bayan
At nakita ang iba’t-ibang uri ng pamumuhay ng tao
At nasabi sa kanyang sarili

"Salamat sa iyo, Panginoong Diyos
Dahil hindi mo kami pinababayaan
Nawa’y patuloy mo kaming gabayan
Sa takbo ng aming buhay
Salamat sa iyo."

Lumipas ang mga taon
Naging maganda ang takbo ng kanyang buhay
Sipag, tiyaga, paalala ng magulang at tulong ng Maykapal
Ang kanyang naging gabay sa buhay.

Naluha siya ng mabasa niya
Ang tulang sinulat niya noong nag-aaral pa siya:

"Pangarap niyang hinahanap ay nasa kanyang kamay lamang
Panahon ay lilipas ng hindi mo napapansin ngunit
Unti-unti mong makikita ang katuparan ng iyong pangarap
Patuloy ka lang magpursige at makakamit mo ang minimithi mong pangarap"

At duon niya naisip
Pangarap niya’y ibinigay na sa kanya.

Lessen Your Expectation But Still Hoping

Isang pagbati sa mga readers ng Scroll & Spin.

Influenza A (H1N1) & H.R. 1109

For today’s edition of Scroll And Spin, we will give some information about Influenza A(H1N1) Virus & HR 1109 so read on & I do hope you learn something from this entry.

“Influenza A(H1N1) virus is a subtype of influenzavirus A and the most common cause of influenza (flu) in humans. Some strains of H1N1 are endemic in humans and cause a small fraction of all influenza-like illness and a large fraction of all seasonal influenza. H1N1 strains caused roughly half of all human flu infections in 2006.[1] Other strains of H1N1 are endemic in pigs (swine influenza) and in birds (avian influenza).

In June 2009, WHO declared that flu due to a new strain of swine-origin H1N1 was responsible for the 2009 flu pandemic. This strain is commonly called "swine flu" by the public media.

Influenza A virus strains are categorized according to two proteins found on the surface of the virus: hemagglutinin (H) and neuraminidase (N). All influenza A viruses contain hemagglutinin and neuraminidase, but the structure of these proteins differ from strain to strain due to rapid genetic mutation in the viral genome.
Influenza A virus strains are assigned an H number and an N number based on which forms of these two proteins the strain contains. There are 16 H and 9 N subtypes known in birds, but only H 1, 2 and 3, and N 1 and 2 are commonly found in humans.

What are the signs and symptoms of H1N1 (swine) flu in people?

The symptoms of H1N1 (swine) flu in people are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with H1N1 (swine) flu. In the past, severe illness (pneumonia and respiratory failure) and deaths have been reported with H1N1 (swine) flu infection in people. Like seasonal flu, H1N1 (swine) flu may cause a worsening of underlying chronic medical conditions.

In children emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

• Fast breathing or trouble breathing
• Bluish or gray skin color
• Not drinking enough fluids
• Severe or persistent vomiting
• Not waking up or not interacting
• Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
• Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough

In adults, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

• Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
• Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
• Sudden dizziness
• Confusion
• Severe or persistent vomiting
• Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough

The four key things to do that will help in preventing you from getting the H1N1 Flu or Swine Flu:

1. Wash Your Hands
2. Cover Your Cough
3. Don't Touch Your Face
4. Stay Away from People Who are Sick

If you do get sick, stay home so you won't pass it on to anyone else."

Nung nakaraang Linggo nagpunta kami sa Waltermart Plaridel para magselebrate ng Mother’s Day lahat naman sa malls nagselebrate. Anyway, nung maglalunch na kami sa Kentucky Fried Chicken naupo kami sa bandang dulo ng KFC, umalis sila nanay para umorder ng aming kakainin so nag-iisa na ako sa upuan then sa kabilang table may dalawang bata, isang lalaki at isang babae so napatingin ako sa mga bata, walang ano-ano’y bumelat yung batang babae ako’y nagulat parang gusto ko gumanti ng belat hehehehe papatol sa bata hehehehe hindi ko na lang pinansin at bagkus tumingin na lang sa labas sa mga taong naglalakad then mamaya maya may magkapatid na bata at nag-uusap ng ganito:

Hello! Scroll & Spin readers, today is our first entry for the month of May. May is the month of fiesta’s here in the Philippines. Even though the world is experiencing financial crisis, still, Filipinos will celebrate fiesta in honor of the patron saints of one’s baranggay.

It’s kind of weird, in this month of summer, we expect warm days but instead of what we expect, summer days become rainy days. Try to observe, when sunrise comes suddenly we feel warm & then later in the afternoon, it will rain. Some will say it is climate change, maybe, or it is just nature’s way of balancing the temperature.

With that kind of weather, Scroll & Spin would like to advice to take care of our health because we are susceptible to headache, fever & flu.

Ang sarap ng tulog ko kagabi.
Bumawi ako ng tulog dahil nung nakakaraang araw,
sumakit ang aking tenga dahil sa sobrang linis.

So here it goes.

One day, a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people can be. They spent a couple of days & nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from the trip, the father asked his son. “How was the trip?”
“It was great, Dad,” he answered.
“Did you see how poor people can be?” the father asked.
“Oh yeah,” said the son.
“So what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father.
The son answered, “I saw that we have one dog & they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden & they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden & they have the stars at night.”
“Our patio reached to the front yard & they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on & they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others,” the boy continued. “We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us & they have friends to protect them.”

With this, the boy’s father was speechless. Then his son added, “Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are.”

Scroll And Spin Announcement.....

Hi! To all Scroll & Spin readers, today I will have some announcement regarding the posting of my new entry. Since February, I’ve decided to just post a new entry every Saturday & Sunday to accommodate the remaining five days of creating new stuff or let say gathering some materials in my new entry or doing my day job.

Starting this month of April, I will be post my new entry every Saturday. The reason why I will post my entry once a week or every Saturday it’s because I want to improve my entry as I want it to be more edgy, well crafted & personalized.
