A Day After Christmas

This photo is taken inside Waltermart Cinema 1, A scene from the movie "Iskul Bukol"

Yesterday my girlfriend and I decided to watch a movie in Waltermart Plaridel so we watch "Iskul Bukol 20 Years After".

Before we watch, we had a spaghetti merienda at Jollibee because we think that the movie will start an hour before lunch time.

So went to watch a movie. Inside the movie house, most of the audience is consist of family members which serves as their treats to their children this Christmas season.

What can I say about the movie well, If you're a fan of TVJ, chances are you know their comic skills, the way they deliver their punchlines.

After watching the movie, we had lunch at Chowking Waltermart & do some shopping.

Balang Araw

My girlfriend and I have the so-called LSS or last song syndrome but this time It is not a regular song played on radio but song used in the mass and that song is Balang Araw, original song of Bukas Palad Ministry.

Video Courtesy of sdoods51969

Lyrics of Balang Araw:

Balang araw ang liwanag matatanaw ng bulag
Ang kagandahan ng umaga pagmamasdan sa tuwina

Balang araw mumutawi sa bibig ng mga pipi
Pasasalamat at papuri awit ng luwalhati

KORO:
Aleluya, aleluya
Narito na'ng Manunubos
Luwalhatiin ang Diyos!

Balang araw tatakbo ang pilay at ang lumpo
Magsasayaw sa kagalakan
Iindak sa katuwaan (KORO)

First Day Of Simbang Gabi Experience

My girlfriend & I decided to attend Simbang Gabi, so last Monday here in Sumapang Matanda, City of Malolos, Bulacan started the nine day novena.

As a yearly tradition, my girlfriend thought that the mass schedule is every 7pm to 8pm but this year the schedule of simbang gabi moves to 6pm to 7pm. So here's how our first day went...

At around 4pm, my girlfriend texted me saying that the mass will start at 7pm, so I say "Ok" and i went to my usual routine.

After sending my girlfriend a reply to her text message, I charge my cellphone that It took 30 mins. to charge.

I eat my early dinner,

after eating I get my cellphone from charging,

that was 5:40pm.

Then I get a text message from my girlfriend saying that the mass will start at 6pm,

so after reading her text message I hurriedly fix myself

& after 10 minutes, I'm on my way to the chapel.

and good thing the mass start 20 minutes late.

Whew! that was close....

And the next day, I arrived in the chapel, one hour before the mass.

That was my first day of simbang gabi experience.

And since today is the 18th day of the month of December, I would like to greet my girlfriend,

Happy One Year & 8 Months to both of us, I Love You Very Much, My Meshel....

Simbang Gabi

Here in the Philippines, the traditional "Simbang Gabi" will start today.

*Traditionally, Christmas Day in the Philippines is ushered in by the nine-day dawn masses that start on December 16. Known as the Misa de Gallo (Rooster's Mass) in the traditional Spanish and in Filipino as Simbang Gabi, or "Night Mass", this novena of Masses is the most important Filipino Christmas tradition.

These nine dawn Masses are also considered as a Novena by the Catholic and Aglipayan faithfuls. This refers to the Roman Catholic and Aglipayan practice of performing nine days of private or public devotion to obtain special graces.

In some parishes, the Simbang Gabi begins as early as four o'clock in the morning. Going to mass this early for nine consecutive days is meant to show the churchgoer's devotion and faith as well as to heighten anticipation for the Nativity of Jesus. In traditional Filipino belief, however, completing the novena is also supposed to mean that God would grant the devotee's special wish or favour.

After hearing Mass, Filipino families partake of traditional Philippine Christmastime delicacies, either during breakfast at home or immediately outside the church, where they are sold. Vendors offer a wealth of native delicacies, including bibingka (rice flour and egg based cake, cooked using coals on top of and under the pastry), puto bumbong (a purple sticky rice delicacy which is steamed in bamboo tubes, with brown sugar and shredded dried coconut meat served as condiments), salabat (hot ginger tea) and tsokolate (thick Spanish cocoa). In some Aglipayan churches, after the mass everybody is invited to partake the "painit" (after mass snacks of delicacies with hot coffee or tsokolate) at the house of the sponsor of the mass.

Beyonce Knowles If I We're A Boy

For today’s entry, we will be featuring Beyonce Knowles with her song “If I We’re A Boy”. The song talks about if she becomes a boy, she will respect the sensibility of a girl so better listen to the song.

Lyrics of If I We’re A Boy

If I were a boy

Even just for a day
Id roll outta bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted then go
Drink beer with the guys
And chase after girls
Id kick it with who I waited
And Id never get confronted for it.
Cause theyd stick up for me.

[Chorus]
If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear Id be a better man.
Id listen to her
Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause hes taken you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed
If I were a boyI could turn off my phone
Tell everyone its broken
So theyd think that I was sleepin alone
Id put myself first
And make the rules as I go
Cause I know that shed be faithful
Waitin for me to come home (to come home)

(Chorus)
Its a little too late for you to come back
Say its just a mistake
Think Id forgive you like that
If you thought I would wait for you
You thought wrong

(Chorus)
But youre just a boy
You dont understand
Yeah you dont understand
How it feels to love a girl someday
You wish you were a better man
You dont listen to her
You dont care how it hurts
Until you lose the one you wanted
Cause youve taken her for granted
And everything you have got destroyed
But youre just a boy

Mabuhay Ka! Manny Pacquiao

Scroll And Spin wants to Congratulate Manny Pacquiao for winning over Oscar Dela Hoya.

Here an article by Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports on how Pacquiao makes Dela Hoya quit after eight round

ROUND 1

De La Hoya closed as a 2-1 favorite. De La Hoya is minus-200 and Pacquiao is plus-170. The over-under is 9½ rounds. Pacquiao comes out with a slight weight advantage tonight. On the unofficial HBO scales, he weighed 148½ and De La Hoya was 147. De La Hoya is the aggressor early, but nothing lands in the first minute. Straight left from Pacquiao and then a combination from Pacquiao connects. Lead left by Pacquiao. Right to the body by Oscar. Manny misses a big hook. Straight left by Pacquiao. Combination to the head by De La Hoya backs Pacquiao up. Right by Oscar connects. Straight left by Manny.Iole scores it 10-9, Pacquiao

ROUND 2

Lead right by De La Hoya and a right hook from Pacquiao. Double jab by De La Hoya. Pacquiao is circling away. Combination from Oscar but doesn’t land flush. Combination to the body by De La Hoya. Right-left from Pacquiao. De La Hoya’s face is reddened from the punches. Pacquiao left lands and then an uppercut. Lead left by Pacquiao keeps getting through. Difference in hand speed is stark. Hard jab and then a left by Pacquiao. Lead left by Pacquiao.Iole scores it 10-9, Pacquiao.

ROUND 3

Lead left from Pacquiao to open the round connects. De La Hoya has to stop that. De La Hoya is doing nothing offensively in first minute of round. Pacquiao flicks a jab that is short. Right to the head and left to the body from De La Hoya. Lead left again by Pacquiao. Left to the body from Pacquiao. Oscar seems befuddled. Right hook to the body from Pacquiao. Iole scores it 10-9, Pacquiao

ROUND 5

De La Hoya connects with a jab, but first 30 seconds of round are very slow. They’re circling but not throwing much. Pacquiao lands a right hook. Triple jab from Pacquiao. Combination from Pacquiao backs De La Hoya up. The way this is going, it wouldn’t be a shock if De La Hoya were to quit on the stool at some point. He’s taking a tremendous amount of punishment. Body shot by Oscar lands and then two lefts. Oscar’s left eye is closing. He looks like a beaten, old and shot fighter.Iole scores it 10-9, Pacquiao

ROUND 6

Nothing happens in first minute of round. Pacquiao lands left to body and a left to the cheek. They trade in the corner and Pacquiao gets the best of it. Straight left from Pacquiao lands. Hard straight left by Pacquiao snaps Oscar’s head back. De La Hoya’s left eye is a mess. Right by Pacquiao lands on that eye. This may be stopped soon by the corner. Iole scores it 10-9, Pacquiao

ROUND 7

Lead right by De La Hoya lands to open the round. Pacquiao rakes De La Hoya with a three-punch combination. Double jab by Manny. Pacquiao batters De La Hoya into the corner. He’s pinned on the ropes and Pacquiao is firing away. Fight is close to ending. Pacquiao is hitting De La Hoya hard with everything he throws. Oscar is in big, big trouble. Left to the body by Pacquiao hurts Oscar. Oscar has never been beaten like this in any of his 44 previous fights. Pacquiao is overwhelming him.Iole scores it 10-8, Pacquiao

ROUND 8

Pacquiao goes to the body and is warned by referee Tony Weeks to keep them up. Lead right by Oscar connects. Combination by Pacquiao pins Oscar in the corner. Lead left by Pacquiao buzzes De La Hoya. Combination wobbles him in the corner. Double jab by Pacquiao. Combination by Pacquiao lands. De La Hoya goes to the body. Four-punch combination by Pacquiao lands and hurts Oscar.Iole scores it 10-9, Pacquiao

ROUND 9

Fight is stopped just as the round is set to begin. Manny Pacquiao is the winner. Official time is 3:00 of the eighth.

The unconditional love you receive will uplift your spirits.

15. Remove the clutter in your home. Keep only those things you

and your Family treasure.

decision using child-like imagination and the wisdom of a wise
woman.

17. Create a new tradition or celebration for you and your family

to experience each year.

Just My Imagination

I was digging my CD collection so that I can put them in my MP3 player then I see this album that has a song by Gwyneth Paltrow & Babyface entitled “Just My Imagination”. This type of music is perfect for chilling out, very cool!

Lyrics of Just My Imagination

Each day through my
window, I watch him as he passes by
I say to myself, I'm so lucky he's so fly
To have a boy like him is truly a dream come true
Out of all the girlies in the world he belongs to you

But it was just my imagination
Running away with me
Tell you it was just my imagination
Running away with me

Soon we'll be married and raise a family (oh yeah)
Have a cozy little crib in the country with two children maybe three
I tell you I can visualize it all baby
It couldn't be a dream cause too real it all seems, oohh

But it was just my imagination (once again yeah)
Running away with me (running away with me)
Tell you it was just my imagination
Running away with me (away with me yeah)

Everynight on my knees I pray, dear lord hear my plea yea
Don't ever let another take his love from me or I will surely die
Heavenly (heavenly) when your arms unfold me, I hear the tender upsity
But in reality, he doesn't even know me

But it was just my imagination (ohh, so fly look out my window)
Running away with me (it's running away with me baby)
Just my imagination (running away)
Running away with me (my baby, my sugar, my sweetie, look at my baby)

Just my imagination (ohh, soo fly look out my window)
Running away with me (it's running away with me)
Just my imagination (yeeaaaa)
Running away with me (my baby, my sugar, my sweetie, look at my baby)

Just my imagination (ohh, soo fly look out my window)
Running away with me (it's running away with me)
Just my imagination (yeeaaaa) ... till fade

The Things That Makes Me Feel Relax

As I write my entry for today, a Christmas song serve as my music background.

And truly indeed, Christmas is just around the corner.

As I listen to the Christmas songs, I was inspired to write a poem that talks about one's person idea of relaxation. Here it goes and I do hope that you like it.

"My unlimited texting service is just expired.
I'm on my solititude
because the girl that I truly love went out for work,
I put out my mp3 player, set it to the songs that I like.
put an earplugs in my ear, yeah! I hear the music that nears to me,
I hear every details of the instruments use in the recordings.
As the wind blows towards me, compliments the chill that music brought.
It was very relaxing while listening to my music thru my mp3 player at the park."

How To Be Happy?

For today's entry I would like to share with you an article written by Dr. Willie Ong thru his column in the Philippine Star last Tuesday, November 25, 2008, the article I would like to share with is all about how to be happy? In this article Dr. Ong give us a tip on how to be happy. So read the article & I do hope that you learn something like I do.

"• Decide to be happy. Make a plan. Think of ways and things that bring you happiness. Set happy goals not just for yourself but include others, too. Then, think of what to do next.

• Use your talents. Identify your strengths. Can you sing, dance, draw, paint, write, or speak? Find and cultivate these strengths of yours. Focus on them and they will bring you confidence and satisfaction. Do what you were meant to do in this world.

• Play. Play with your kids. Have fun with friends. Take time to relax and play. There’s nothing wrong with having fun and liking your work. Go through your normal day in an easy and light manner.

• Be curious. Try to see happiness around you. Watch the sunrise, feel the cool breeze, listen to the birds chirping and see people smiling. Nature is full of happiness.

• Count your blessings. Be grateful and happy with what you have. Accept the blessings that you have and think positively about the things you do not have. Maybe you weren’t meant to get it anyway and that something better is in store. Look at the bright side always.

• Like yourself. Everybody commits a mistake at some point in their lives. It’s part of our learning process, whether it’s because of our youth or ignorance. Try to make amends on the mistakes you made and then let it go. A wise man said that it’s the things we didn’t do that we later regret, and not the things and mistakes that we did.

• Pamper yourself. After a long work day, treat yourself to a warm, refreshing bath. Enjoy your favorite magazine. Tinker around with your hobbies. And when you feel like a kid, bring out the child in you.

• Enjoy close relationships. A unique study shows that talking to a supportive friend is as effective as taking a tablet of pain reliever. There is something heavenly in true and caring friends. Invest your time in building close relationships. They are as good as money in the bank.

• Find positive people. Surround yourself with positive and happy people. Find good mentors. They can be the key to your success. Some believe the other person’s good influence and good karma will also bring you luck. Happy people tend to be more supportive of others, too.

• Volunteer to help someone in need. If you want to receive P2,000 worth of happiness, donate P2,000 to your favorite charity. Studies show that the more people give to others, the happier they become.

• Think happy thoughts. Positive thinking proponent Norman Vincent Peale says that if a negative thought should enter your mind, you should immediately block it with a positive one. If a fearful thought crosses your mind, tell yourself that you’ll overcome it, and that you’ll be alright. Think positive.

• See and hear happy news. Read inspiring books. Watch happy movies. Look for the good news in the papers and magazines. Fill your minds with positive and constructive news.

• Laugh. If you watched Patch Adams, you know that the doctor’s secret cure for his patients is to simply make them laugh. Wearing a clown’s makeup, Dr. Adams brings joy to cancer-stricken kids. A study by Dr. Lee Berk shows that watching an hour of comedy movie releases 27 percent more good endorphins in the body. Endorphins help reduce pain and stress, and boost the immune system.

• Follow your instincts. In the best-selling book Blink, author Malcolm Gladwell says our minds can make a wise decision based on our gut feel or intuition. Most of the time, this turns out correctly. In business decisions and relationships, it pays to listen to this inner voice of wisdom.

• Be healthy. Being healthy is a prerequisite to being happy. Get a checkup and see your doctor. Avoid alcohol and cigarettes.

• Eat healthy and exercise. Go for something green or orange. Green leafy vegetables and orange-colored tomatoes, carrots, and citrus fruits are high in antioxidants. Exercise moderately and stay active for your age.

• Find the right amount of stress. Studies show that too much stress from work can lead to anxiety, restlessness, and anger. However, too little stress can also lead to boredom. The secret is in finding the right amount of work that will make you productive and happy.

• Sleep. Make sure that you get adequate sleep and rest, like around seven to eight hours. If you have insomnia, just lying in bed and thinking happy and restful thoughts can relax your body, too.

• Be in love. Gerontology professor Dr. David Demko believes that being in love can prolong one’s life by as much as seven years. Married people or those with close relationships are generally happier compared to single people living alone. If you don’t have a partner, then having a close friend, a pet or a hobby can be a substitute.

• Believe. Studies show that people who have a strong sense of spirituality are 40-percent happier than those who don’t. People who hope for a brighter future and sense a meaning and purpose in their lives are happier and more fulfilled.

• Try to have faith in yourself. Have faith, too, in the goodness of others. And finally, have faith in God. If you’re not happy today, don’t worry, because slowly things will get better. It always does. You have all the resources you need to be happy."

A "Memory Card" Weekend

Last Saturday, Me and my girlfriend decided to update our Nokia 7610 phones, our aim of updating the phone is to have more space for pictures, graphics & mp3 music because me and my girlfriend are music lovers.

So after we eat our merienda, we proceed in buying our memory cards with 512mb because thats the only limit our 7610 can utilized. so the store owner, installed the memory cards to our phones, I was worry at that time bacause in 30 minutes the Mass will start, we attend the anticipated Mass. So the installing of the memory cards is done in time for the mass & we proceed in attending Mass.

After we got home, after we take our dinner with our family, we started texting as we usually do every night. And in the middle of our conversation thru text messages, my phone got hung up & it's hard to send text messages so I text my girlfriend using my father's cellphone number saying that my phone can't send and recieve her text messages and it have a message that blinks "System Failed!"

The next day, that is Sunday, I went to the store to say what happened to my phone & they say "It was infected by virus & it needs to reformat" I say ok to just fix the problem but in my opinion my phone is not infected rather It is their way of making "palusot" & I think the memory card that they install in my phone needs to be compatible to my phone by doing so they "format" my phone.

Anyway, I'm satisfy with my updated phone cause it will now store more picture & more music.

Today in our entry, I will tell what I observed when I’m on the road whether on our own vehicle or riding in a public transportation, so let’s title this entry “Scroll And Spin Road Watch” these are my observation here in the major thorough fares of Malolos, Bulacan.

1) People who use bicycles as their mode of transportation use half of the road because they think they riding a car.

2) People who cross the street look like they just walking in the park.

3) Public Utility Vehicles or Passenger Jeepneys always stop when people gathers around the street corner, the driver think they will ride a jeep but to the driver’s disappointment they will just cross the street.

4) Motorcycle riders always make the cut.

5) Motorcycle riders don’t wear proper gear.

6) Public Utility Vehicles or Passenger Jeepneys always load and unload their passenger in the middle of the street.

The Wonders of Gum

When I was in high school my teacher ask my female classmate a hypothetical question (because this female classmate of mine is notorious for chewing gum) so the question & answer goes like this…..

Teacher: (Name of my female classmate), para saan at ngumunguya tayo ng chewing gum?

My female classmate: Para po ma-exercise ang bibig. (deadpan)

And the whole class laugh…..

Then last Tuesday (November 18) I read an article by Dr. Tyrone Reyes thru his column in the Philippine Star

The Wonders of Gum

"It might lose its flavor after a while, but it can still have medicinal value. Research shows that after abdominal surgery, chewing gum for one hour, three times daily, significantly hastens the resumption of normal bowel function and reduces the time patients spend in the hospital. Eating and drinking are also effective but can cause nausea.

“Chewing gum doesn’t put as much in your system if you’re not ready for it, yet it might help stimulate intestinal activity,” says Jeffrey Drebin, MD, professor and chief of gastrointestinal surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. “I encourage my patients to chew gum as soon as they’re awake enough not to choke on it.”

The findings of a study of 158 patients from Imperial College London and published in the August 2008 issue of the Archives of Surgery showed that patients who chewed sugarless gum while recovering from colon surgery for five to 45 minutes had faster return of bowel function, measured in the time it took after surgery for them to pass gas for the first time (a half-day earlier than nonchewers) and to have a first bowel movement (a day earlier). There was no reported problem caused by the gum. The authors explained that sorbitol, a common artificial sweetener in gum, has a known laxative effect.

A 2002 Japanese study also showed that gum-chewing patients recovered faster after laparoscopic colon surgery. Likewise, in 2006, researchers at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California found that gum chewers who had undergone large-incision abdominal surgery moved their bowels 26 hours earlier than other patients. So with your surgeon’s approval, pack some gum, preferably sugarless, before heading for the hospital.

Studies also suggest that chewing gum can relieve heartburn, which results when acid from the stomach backs up into the esophagus, a disorder called gastro-esophageal reflux. In a 2005 British study, 31 people with this condition consumed a fatty, heartburn-inducing lunch for two days and were randomly selected to chew gum for 30 minutes afterward. Stomach acid levels were significantly lower when they chewed gum. An earlier study found that chewing gum for one hour after breakfast reduced symptoms for up to three hours.

Chewing gum stimulates the production of saliva, which neutralizes acid in the esophagus. “It has the same effect as an antacid,” explains C. Mel Wilcox, MD, professor of medicine at the University of Alabama. The treatment may especially appeal to pregnant women who want to avoid medications."

DAKILA (nobility) -- Philippine Collective for Modern Heroism is an organization of artists and individuals committed to advocating nobility of thought and action among both their industry peers and their immediate audiences.

The core missions of DAKILA are awareness, education, and involvement - to make the public aware of crucial concerns affecting society, to educate both the audience and, more importantly, themselves about pressing social concerns, which should effectively inform the methods of creative expression and to be consistently and dynamically involved in activities geared toward achieving the common good.

We, in DAKILA, believe that . . .

1. Nobility begins in the mind and ends in action.

2. Nobility knows no social and economic status— all human beings possess aninnate sense of honor and dignity.

3. True nobility is not defined by pedigree or wealth but by one's actions.

4. Art is one of the noblest human endeavors— the only way of expressing the inexpressible.

5. Art does not exist in a vacuum. After his own self, the artist has a responsibility towards the reality that surrounds him.

6. Art may not change the world, but it can change the way we view the world. For true revolution begins in the imagination.

7. We recognize all those who have sacrificed their lives in the past so that our freedom and the nobility of the race may live on— we recognize our heroes, our martyrs, the disciples of the arts who have dedicated themselves to the truest, noblest cause. We honor them by treading the same path. The Philippine society is in the midst of a significant upheaval and that as disciples of the creative act, we are not exempted from the responsibility of helping contribute to positive change.

Now, more than ever, is the time to be DAKILA. ----Vocals: Kat Agarrado (Sinosikat?) . Kalila Aguilos . Gabby Alipe (Urbandub) . Bing Austria (Juan Pablo Dream) Joey Ayala . Bayang Barrios .
